1 – Prepositions as independent words tend to be the first kind taught in English language courses. Many have as their fundamental meaning a position or direction in space or time (on the ground, into town, after breakfast), a feature reflected in the very name “preposition”.

In your opinion, what is the reasons to begin the teaching of prepositions this way?

2- Can phrasal verbs be considered abstract/metaphorical uses of prepositions? Justify?

3 – According to Celce Murcia (2001) non-native English speakers have three different prepositional issues: choosing the incorrect prepositions, removing a preposition that is necessary, and adding a preposition when one is not necessary. Illustrate each situation with an example and suggest teaching strategies to deal with them.
